A fun and wide -ranging exposure to the preparation and performance of live performance. Don't be intimidated by the terminology; theatre is about truth, passion, imagination and entertainment, and that is what the theatre program here is all about.  

 

Improvisational Theatre (middle school -HS, age 13 - 18): Theatre without the script, a fun and physically active approach to acting.  Actors will participate in theatre games and improvisational exercises aimed at trusting impulse and freeing the imagination.  This class also includes creating an original theatre piece based on ideas and issues the students express interest in, and developing those ideas into a coherent improvised performance piece.  (1.5 hours per session) 

 

Teen Acting (middle school - HS, age 13 - 18): A class for beginning actors to intermediate experience. Ensemble building exercises, creating a character, monologue/audition technique and scene study. All actors will perform both monologue and scenic material for an end of term showcase. Exploration of foundation acting principles and an introduction to technique (Stanislavski/Meisner) Ideal for students interested in auditioning for Performing Arts High Schools (7th and 8th grade) and Colleges (9-12) as well as those looking for an introduction to the craft of Acting. (1.5 hours per session)
